Gun Ban Law Banned
Back in November, I wrote the following post:
A Letter To Some
Dear People of San Francisco,
What the hell were you thinking when you decided to ban guns from your City? Don't you realize that when you force all law-abiding gun owners to give up their guns then the only ones that will have them are crooks and the government? Great job, you stupid, stupid, people.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes things change for the better.
Measure H was placed on the November ballot by the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors, who were frustrated by a rising number of gun-related homicides in the city of 750,000. San Francisco recorded at least 94 murders last year, a 10-year high.
The National Rifle Association sued a day after 58 percent of voters approved the law.
In siding with the gun owners, San Francisco County Superior Court Judge James Warren said a local government cannot ban weapons because the California Legislature allows their sale and possession.
Well, good. Not only was the law found stupid, it was found to be unconstitutional illegal. (I like that judge. He's obviously not a native Californian.)
Here's why the law was stupid:
The ordinance targeted only city residents, meaning nonresidents in the city or even tourists were not banned from possessing or selling guns here.
So if you lived there, no guns for you! But if you are just passing through? How much ammo would you like with that purchase? Do you see the stupidity?
Conclusion: The citizens and government of San Francisco are still stupid, but at least they can legally defend themselves.
Instead of banning guns, the people of San Francisco should do something more constructive: Shoot a criminal.

Would this be like if a state were to ban online poker, but allow it to be played live?

I didn't know you were a gun rights advocate. =)
I agree with your sentiment wholeheartedly.
You can't be too surprised at this sort of behavior in San Francisco though.
